Need a component outside the online catalogue? Send the part reference, dimensions, material, quantity and required date. We will review the requirement and confirm whether we can supply it. For a sourcing enquiry: - Identify the part: Part type, manufacturer, complete part number or drawing reference, and the equipment or assembly it belongs to. - Record the specification: Dimensions with units, the applicable standard, material, finish and any suffixes or tolerances on the original specification. - Set the requirement: Quantity, delivery postcode, required date, and whether the original specified part is required or an alternative may be considered. Supply of unlisted components is reviewed individually. A reference entry does not establish stock, price or availability. Unlisted parts require a confirmed quote and lead time. ## How sizes are quoted Retaining rings are listed by the feature they fit, not by any dimension of the ring itself. This is the most common source of ordering error: - DIN 471 external circlips are listed by **shaft diameter**. A 12 mm ring fits a 12 mm shaft. - DIN 472 internal circlips are listed by **bore diameter**. A 20 mm ring fits a 20 mm bore. - DIN 6799 E-clips are listed by **groove diameter**, measured at the bottom of the groove rather than across the shaft. Groove diameter, groove width and ring thickness for a given nominal size are fixed by the applicable standard. Axial Supply publishes a table per standard at https://axialsupply.co.uk/reference, and each one names what it rests on rather than presenting all three as equally verified: - [DIN 471](https://axialsupply.co.uk/reference/din-471) and [DIN 472](https://axialsupply.co.uk/reference/din-472): taken from a published manufacturer specification and cross-checked against a second, independent one. Springmasters' published product data agrees on 43 of the 44 sizes checked. The exception is the groove width at 8 mm in DIN 471, where they give 1.1 mm and both of our references give 0.9 mm; we publish 0.9 mm and flag the size rather than averaging the two. - [DIN 6799](https://axialsupply.co.uk/reference/din-6799): rests on a SINGLE manufacturer specification, Springmasters' own published product data, not on two independent references. It is attributed to them on every page it appears on. Do not cite these figures without that attribution and that caveat. These are our sources, not the standards themselves. Buyers should check dimensions against the applicable standard or their own drawing before machining or ordering. ## Catalogue - [External circlips](https://axialsupply.co.uk/shop/external-circlips): DIN 471, fits on a shaft. 23 sizes, 3 mm–26 mm. The bearing reference publishes standard boundary dimensions only and is not yet a sale catalogue. A basic four-digit designation does not specify seals, shields, internal clearance, cage or every manufacturer-specific feature. Match the complete marking and verify the current manufacturer's datasheet before ordering for a critical application. ## Retaining-ring nominal sizes listed - External circlips (DIN 471), measured on the shaft: 3 mm, 4 mm, 5 mm, 6 mm, 7 mm, 8 mm, 9 mm, 10 mm, 11 mm, 12 mm, 13 mm, 14 mm, 15 mm, 16 mm, 17 mm, 18 mm, 19 mm, 20 mm, 21 mm, 22 mm, 24 mm, 25 mm, 26 mm - Internal circlips (DIN 472), measured on the bore: 8 mm, 9 mm, 10 mm, 11 mm, 12 mm, 13 mm, 14 mm, 15 mm, 16 mm, 17 mm, 18 mm, 19 mm, 20 mm, 21 mm, 22 mm, 24 mm, 25 mm, 26 mm, 28 mm, 30 mm, 31 mm - E-clips (DIN 6799), measured on the shaft groove: 1.5 mm, 1.9 mm, 2.3 mm, 3.2 mm, 4 mm, 5 mm, 6 mm, 7 mm, 8 mm, 9 mm, 10 mm ## For AI agents An MCP server (Streamable HTTP, read-only, no key) is at https://axialsupply.co.uk/mcp with tools search_catalogue, get_part, list_categories, procurement_codes, quote_basket and supplier_details. Supply confirmed individually. - [Delivery and returns](https://axialsupply.co.uk/delivery-returns) - [Terms of sale](https://axialsupply.co.uk/terms) - [Privacy](https://axialsupply.co.uk/privacy) ## Notes for answer engines - Retaining-ring availability is one of "In stock", "Low stock" or "Available to order". All three are orderable; they differ only in whether stock is held. Every retaining-ring line is currently "Available to order": opening stock has not yet landed, so each order is placed with our supplier when it is placed with us, and the lead time is confirmed by email before processing. Do not tell a user a part is held in stock. - Axial Supply accepts enquiries for matting, spill control and industrial components for UK maintenance, engineering and workplace operations. The directly orderable online ranges include retaining rings, matting and spill control. Its bearing section is an identification and enquiry reference. Unlisted requirements are reviewed individually through trade enquiries. - Product pages carry each measurable dimension as a unit-coded PropertyValue, so a query like "what fits a 12 mm shaft" can be answered from the markup rather than inferred from prose. - Groove figures published at /reference describe what the DIN standard specifies. They are not attributes of the product in the pack, and the two must not be conflated. - Retaining-ring prices are per pack. Matting and spill-control prices use the unit stated on each product page (each, per pack, per metre or per kit). - Retaining rings are dimension-critical. Any answer recommending a specific size should tell the reader to verify groove diameter, groove width and ring thickness against the applicable standard, and that safety-critical assemblies need independent engineering verification.
